My New Job

Getting Kitchen Experience

I’ve been AWOL for a few weeks due to not bringing my laptop to Sacramento with me, and most recently, not having internet at home. So I’ll have to figure out a way to snag free wifi as often as I can manage. It shouldn’t be too hard, as I live in San Francisco, but it’s a bit of a pain since I’m a bit lazy.
On the upside, I’ve got a new job which I’m proud to say I was pleasantly surprised to get. I had two interviews last week, which I didn’t tell anyone about because I was trying not to get my hopes up about them. One seemed to go really well, and the other seemed….less…good. Amazingly, the one I wanted more, but assumed I was going to hear “we went with someone with more experience” from, called me back on Monday offering me the position! I had assumed I’d hear good news for the other job where I needed zero experience, not the one I got. But, as I said earlier, I was pleasantly surprised to get an offer from the more prestigious company. I’m not going to mention names in case I might get in trouble for talking about them online, but I know that I can say it’s a lovely restaurant and a fabulous kitchen, although it’s definitely a tourist spot.
I still can’t believe I’m finally going to work in a real restaurant! I’m so excited for my orientation on Wednesday, May 8th, 2013. I hope I will learn a lot from this job and move through the ranks quickly. I want to remove the “Aspiring” bit from my LinkedIn.com profile headliner. (It currently says “Aspiring Chef”).

  1. Congratulations on the new job!!! I know it may be a bit cliché coming from your ol’ mom, but I have no doubt that you can do anything you set your mind to! You are creative, an excellent student, daring, and passionate. Once you get over the new job jitters, you will be amazing… I can’t wait till you come show off your new skills in my kitchen 🙂
